Just a quick speedy. Couple of hours in photoshop. Just really started to get to grips with speed painting and using textures to get decent compositions.

Don't paint without getting a strong thumbnail composition first. Made that mistake once and for all with my last apocalypse painting.

Andy what do you mean with strong thumbnail composition? Basic one? When you zoom a way out?

Kinda yeah. Basically, don't just start a painting and hope it goes well. Do a quick 30 minute rough, blocky sketch that has all the right values and composition. Then maybe semi render it for an hour or two. If that works then res it up spend a few days on it.
